Now being older and having completed every sonic game. The story of metal sonic was all wrong lol. It’s okay though, I love this series to bits but for anyone who interested I posted the lore below. Correct lore: Mecha and Metal Sonic are not the same being. We first see robotic Sonic’s in Sonic 2. The first being Mecha Sonic Mk I (silver Sonic). Sonic Cd is next which introduces a new robot called Metal Sonic. After Metal is defeated, Eggman follows up in Sonic 3 & Knuckles by upgrading Mk I to Mecha Sonic Mk II (which is the one we see here). In game lore we no longer see Mecha after Knuckles beats him. We do however see Metal Sonic and the other robots in Sonic Adventure 1 as cameos confirming they are all separate beings. After that in Sonic heroes Metal makes a return as Neo Metal Sonic, followed by his final form Master Overlord. As for Mobius, that is only canon to the Archie Comics. Sonic is from Earth and his home is Green Hill. Sonic also fought Metal Sonic in his classic self.

I've always weirdly had a soft spot for this level, no idea why though. I guess maybe because it feels so open? It's neat either way.

When I first saw 02, I literally screamed "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"

My favorite part of this level is the music when your outside which is the cool, cool, mountain. And my other favorite part of this level is the slide music when you race the penguin.

(It might be my joycons. But if not) I swear, that red climbing grate is CHANCE if you stay up or not!

11:20-13:25 Mecha Sonic turning the Axem Rangers into dust in the span of two minutes was one of the most glorious sequences in flash animation history. Like damn, this can give DBZ some real competition if it was taken to the next level. This variant of Metal Sonic can give Homelander and Omni-Man some serious competition on the evil super-being scale.

It’s odd to think this is in the same game as Bob-omb battlefield and shifting sand land. And it’s just as much as a course as them. I have rarely played this level.

Wait how did you get the more pleasant highway sounding "Seinfeld"-like slap bass for the lake portion of this level. It's usually the more uncomfortable other version when you're more underground. Now I think I'll try to get this version. Makes me feel there's more highway to this level than I thought. I thought the connector transfer room and the opening cave paths were the only ones with the highway-like music.

this series heavily impacted my obsession with mario when i was 7-8 years old. ill never forget watching this as a little boy.

Those who don't recognize it, the second (water strider) machine is more than likely based off the skeeter in Mario 64 from Wet-Dry World.

So when trying to tease the Eel out of the ship of you just swim up to its left side right next to the hole then swim past it up through the cave get air then swim back through the cave he will be out. Takes all of a minute to do.
